Midday Brushing Campaign
On Sept 5, 2023, Mahim Aboli Foundation launched the mid-day brushing campaign. Past dental camps had revealed that students at the ZP schools had poor dental hygiene. This was particularly true post-pandemic when only a handful of students didn’t have any major dental issues.
By introducing mid-day brushing in five ZP schools, we are hoping to combat this deterioration. During the distribution of dental supplies, we educated the students about the importance of oral hygiene along with teaching them how to brush their teeth well. All toothbrushes will be replaced every 6 months and we will provide toothpaste throughout the year when needed.
The government runs a midday lunch program for students in ZP schools. This campaign encourages students to brush their teeth after lunch. The teachers of the five schools have been tasked with monitoring the kids’ brushing since we don’t have enough volunteers do the job. We are immensely grateful to all the teachers for cooperating and going the extra mile to run Aboli’s programs.
The students’ dental health will be monitored through our annual health and dental camp, the next one being held in early February 2024.
