Aboli Foundation hosts 2024 field trip for students from Palghar ZP school
On January 9, 81 students from the ZP schools we support went on their annual field trip, as part of Aboli Foundation’s Project Vistaar campaign. Through Project Vistaar, we provide real-world exposure to students earlier on in their lives with the goal of expanding their worldviews and perspectives.
This year, students visited the Kokuyo Camlin company manufacturing facility in the nearby town of Boisar. It is India’s one of the oldest art and stationary manufacturing company. They also visited the newly constructed district head office in Palghar. In between, we made a stop at a resort called Mamacha Gav (Literally-Uncles’s Village) for lunch and playtime.
At the Camlin stationary company, students had the opportunity to see first-hand how crayons are manufactured, as well as how a pencil lead is made from stone. They were amazed to know that it takes almost 12 days to manufacture one pencil. The students had a chance to ask questions about the process of color preparation to packaging the crayons. They also received color pencils, an eraser and a sharpener from the company.
The visit to the district office was a very valuable experience for the students. The officers spoke to the children about their roles and responsibilities, truly fulfilling the aim of this project—to expose students to life outside the village and show them different career paths to pursue. The students saw various departments of the government office and learned where their mid-day meals and snacks come from. They also got a chance to meet the honorable chief officer. He gave the students motivation to do well in school and succeed in life.
Visiting Mamacha Gav resort was the highlight of the trip. The students had a chance to enjoy some delicious food, play and swim, as well as dance in the rain!
