Aboli Foundation Yoga for a Cause initiative raises INR 159,000 for health & education campaigns
This year, to celebrate International Yoga Day, Aboli Foundation volunteer Rasika Krishnamurthy launched the 7-Day Yoga for A Cause Challenge, a special initiative to raise funds for Aboli’s health and education campaigns this year.
The challenge was pretty simple. Every day, from June 15-21, a video of an asana, or pose, was shared in a mass WhatsApp group (challenge participants could simply join the WhatsApp group to take part). These videos were voluntarily recorded by the following yoga teachers:
Rasika Krishnamurthy
Shubhada More
Sylvia Tirtanata
Shobha Shetty
Dr. Rajvi Mehta
Satida (Lek) Keaw-Cha-Oum
Participants had to do the assigned asana each day, photograph themselves doing the pose, and send it on the WhatsApp group. Rasika pledged to contribute $1 per photograph shared throughout the week.
The challenge included the following seven poses:
Vrukshasana
Utkatasana
Veerbhadrasana 2
Urdhvamukha shwanasaan
Parivritta Trikonasana
Parivritta ardhachandrasana
Paschimottanasana
And open pose- participants could post their favorite one.
100% of the funds collected would go to Aboli’s campaigns.
The challenge had nearly 100 participants and by the end of the week, 555 photographs of poses were shared. This brought in $555 from Rasika in funding for Aboli, with additional donations from Rasika’s son Vedansh (INR 5,000) and Neeta Sarvaiya (INR 5,000)
In addition to this, we’re thrilled to report a developer working in fintech who wishes to remain anonymous generously wanted to contribute to the challenge as well, donating an additional $2 per photograph shared.
In total, Aboli Foundation raised INR 159,000 through this initiative! We look forward to using these funds for our Arogya and Vistaar campaigns this year. A huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers and generous donors!
