Happy Independence Day!

August 15 marks India’s Independence Day! There was a celebration held at every school in Mahim. I had the pleasure of attending Temki Paada’s flag hoisting ceremony and watch some of the students give speeches about their country.

The students were also given chocolates and candies.

August 15, coincidentally, is also Raksha Bhandan this year, a day about celebrating siblings. A tradition is for the sister to tie a rakhi around her brother’s wrist. At Temki Paada, the girls tied rakhis around the boys’ wrists, cementing the bond between the students.
